Heather White Dog Training

Working with dogs for over 15 years in various capacities, Heather has worked with animal shelters and rescues, boarding and training operations, and training classes and seminars. Heather holds a Master's Degree in Social Work from Hunter College with an emphasis on Animal-Assisted Therapy, winning Hunter's Jacob Goldfein Award for her Master's thesis, "Optimizing Animal-Assisted Interactions within Psychiatric Facilities". Heather holds a certificate in Animals and Human Health from the University of Denver's Graduate School of Social Work, a certificate in Treating Animal Abuse from Arizona State University's Graduate School of Social Work, and a certificate in Veterinary Social Work from the University of Tennessee. Heather is a Certified Canine Fitness Trainer through the University of Tennessee's CCFT program as well as a Fit Paws Master Trainer through Fit Paws. Heather was the Westchester area Executive Trainer and Program Coordinator and later Director of Programs and Training for The Good Dog Foundation; evaluating, training, and coordinating therapy dogs and their handlers as well as creating and implementing visiting therapy dog programs in various types of facilities, from schools and hospitals to nursing homes and libraries in NY, NJ, CT, and MA. Heather enjoys working with dogs and their owners, helping them to understand each other better while emphasizing the human-canine bond in her training methods which prove to be gentle, fair, and enjoyable for all involved.

Heather's personal dogs enjoy participating in obedience and rally obedience trials, trick dog training, canine good citizen, and are active in therapy dog work. Heather's dog, Thomas, has ranked in Cynosport Rally Obedience:
